Program Description
Carriage House Preschool provides classrooms for toddler, two, three and four year old children from the third week of August through the third week of May. Carriage House maintains ratios in all classrooms of 1 teacher to every 4-5 children. There is a Kentucky certified teacher and two teaching assistants in each classroom. Morning classes are in session from 9am – 12pm each day. Afternoon classes are in session 3 days a week from 1:00 - 3:30pm. Early drop off is available Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 9am.
Summer programs are available for 8 weeks. Children are in a 2 yr program or mixed group of 3 – 5 year olds. The morning program is in session from 9am – 12pm each day with early morning drop off beginning at 7:30am. The afternoon program is in session 3 days each week from 1:00 - 3:30pm.
Curriculum
The High/Scope Approach to Early Childhood Education provides the basic framework for the classroom setting. Our program centers on the whole child. This approach meets the primary goal of helping each child reach full potential in all areas of life by being active learners. The approach allows the child to experience the joy of learning, gives time to enjoy the process, ensures the development of self-esteem, and provides the experiences from which children create their knowledge. Within the environment, the child and adult work together to plan what the child will do. A rich variety of learning experiences are provided for the children.
The teachers also use The Growing Reader Literacy Curriculum, High/Scopes Math/Science in the Classroom, and Hand Writing Without Tears during large and small group times to enable children to develop the skills needed to be successful in a Kindergarten program. Every classroom has its own set of offerings, which differs from age to age – materials are organized so each child can proceed at his/her own pace. The emphasis is on the PROCESS of learning more so than the product.

Physical Environment
Everything in the school is planned with children's development in consideration -- from the soft colors of the walls to the tone of the teacher's voice. Safety is always a primary concern. Each classroom is arranged in organized learning areas that invite all children into the mainstream of learning in a non-threatening way. One of the major purposes of the indoor and outdoor environment is to provide a variety of activities that match the child's developmental needs, abilities and interests. All young children need a nurturing environment.

Registration & Fees
Registration takes place in January each year. Children who are presently attending the program and their siblings have the first options for placement for the following school year. Families not attending Carriage House may schedule a tour and put their child’s name on the waiting list at any time. In order to secure a place in a classroom, an enrollment form must be filled out and turned in with the non- refundable fee of $140.00.
Morning Preschool
Carriage House Preschool provides programming for toddlers, 2, 3, and 4 year olds from 9:00am – 12:00pm each morning. Toddler and two’s may attend from 2 – 5 days per week, three’s may attend 4 or 5 days, and four’s attend 5 days per week. Fewer days than 4 in the three’s and 5 in the four’s may be possible depending on classroom availability and another student sharing the spot.

Tuition will be payable in 11 monthly installments beginning on July 1, 2013 and ending on May 1, 2014. Families may pay by cash/check or credit card (VISA or Master Card). There will be a discount on the months that you pay by cash/check.
Before School – 7:30 am to 9:00 am Monday through Friday
Contact school for information about afternoon extended services.
· Spaces are reserved on a monthly basis.
· Before school services are billed at $6 per day
· Payment for extended services will be due in advance each month.
· Prepaid days may be rescheduled when a child is absent.
Afternoon Preschool
This program offers a structured atmosphere, where your child will enjoy a small group (6-8 children) preschool environment facilitated by a certified preschool teacher and an assistant. The program is designed to help preschool children who benefit from the smaller group environment to work on their cognitive and fine motor skills, and social interactions while enjoying a wide variety of sensory, large motor and preschool activities.
The afternoon preschool is in session from 1:00 to 3:30pm and is available for children ages 2 through 4 years. Each classroom operates 3 afternoons per week year round. The cost for the program is $114.00 per week and is payable in advance on a monthly basis.
Summer Programs
Summer programming is available from 9:00 to 12:00 each day for 8 weeks during the summer. Morning care is available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 9:00am during the summer. Information on summer fees will be available in March.
