The Therapeutic Education Program is a year round program designed for children who would benefit from participation in a smaller preschool classroom environment. This program will offer a structured atmosphere, where your child will enjoy a small group environment facilitated by a certified preschool teacher/Developmental Interventionist and an assistant. Focus will be placed on basic developmental and prerequisite skills such as engagement, attention, following basic routines and directions, motor skills, imitation, peer interaction, social communication, and social play.
The Developmental Interventionist will provide assessment and develop individualized goals for each child as well as strategies needed to reach those goals. The Carolina Curriculum for Preschoolers with Special Needs (CCPSN) will be utilized to assess and document progress of each child; additional assessment tools may be used including The Early Start Denver Model Curriculum Checklist (ESDM) and the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP).
Enrollment options include morning and afternoon sessions. Each session is three hours in length. The morning session is from 8:45 am. – 11:45 am., and the afternoon session is from 12:30 pm. – 3:30 pm. Children must attend at least 2 half day sessions, with the option of up to 8 sessions per week.
